Day 14: The Title

You passed CCNP ENCOR two weeks ago.
Ten weeks of study, in the evenings after work.

A large part of the exam was work you had already done at Halverton.

Today is the interview for the Network Engineer job.
9 AM, room 3B.

Two people in the room: Sarah, and Elena, the senior engineer in charge of the WAN.

The first thirty minutes are questions. HSRP, OSPF areas, access lists.
You did all three at Halverton, so you answer with what you did.

At 9:40, Elena opens a laptop and turns it towards you.
It runs a copy of the Halverton network. Same devices, same addresses, same configuration.

Elena:

"Six things are broken between the Reno dock PC and the CRM server. You have until noon and every console. Explain what you do as you go."

Elena broke six things in the copy, between the Reno dock PC and the CRM server.
Your job: make the Reno dock PC reach the CRM server again.

Two rules. You fix what is broken, you do not change the design:

• The site areas stay stub.

• The audit rule stays: the docks of the three sites only reach the DNS and the CRM at HQ.

The path from the PC to the server: SW-RENO1, R-RENO1, R-WAN1, R-HQ1, a core switch, SW-3F-SRV1.

The six faults are on it.

Lab Instructions

You have the console on every switch, every router and the dock PC of each site.
The Reno dock PC is 10.44.30.10. The CRM server is 10.20.8.11.

• From the Reno dock PC, ping the CRM server

• Keep the design: the site areas stay stub, the audit rule stays

• Save the configuration on every device you changed

Elena closed the laptop at 11:40.
