Day 8: Night Shift

You passed the CCNA three months ago, and the Network Admin job opened the same week.

The job comes with night shifts at the NOC. You badge in at 23:14, and the building is empty.

There are 41 sites on the wall, and most of them are still working at this hour.

Sarah stays for the first hour.

"Most of what you see tonight is noise. Your job is to find the part that is not."

She leaves at midnight.

At 2 AM it is quiet.
You open R-WAN1, one of the routers between sites.

Reading the Table

You want to know one thing: how many routes this router holds.

Where 312 Routes Come From

Each router tells its neighbors which networks it is connected to, and the rest arrives on its own.
At 41 sites, nobody could type these 312 routes into every router by hand.

Lab Instructions

At 3:20 the wall turns red on one site. The dock PCs at Reno cannot reach anything, and the link to Reno is up.

You have the console on R-WAN1. The dock network at Reno is 10.44.30.0/24, and one of its PCs is 10.44.30.10.
(The lab does not include all 41 sites, which is why the routing table does not contain all 312 OSPF routes.)

• Find the problem, then ping the Reno dock PC from R-WAN1

• Save the configuration
